The note in a baby shower card has a quiet importance. It will be read in the middle of one of the most emotional, exhausted, expectant moments of someone's life. Whatever you write will land harder than you think.
Here are 100+ messages, sorted by who you're writing to. Pick one. Add a sentence that only you would say. That's the whole craft.

- You are going to be the kind of mum who shows up with snacks, who knows the song, who remembers the small things. They are so lucky.

- The first baby is the one that changes everything. Including, in the best way, you.
Baby shower messages for a second (or third) baby
The "second baby" card gets sent less. It shouldn't.

- This baby is so loved already, by a family that's done this before and somehow still has all the love in the world to give. Cannot wait to meet them.

Funny baby shower messages (read your audience)
- Wishing you sleep. Lots of it. While you can. (None after.)
- May your baby's first word be your name. May their second word also be your name. May they never realise the other parent exists.
- Welcome to parenthood. The pay is terrible. The benefits are unmatched.
- Sending you a card, a gift, and my deepest sympathies regarding your sleep schedule. Love you. So happy for you.
- Just here to say: nap now. Nap a lot. Nap competitively.
- I have nothing useful to say, and a baby is about to make sure you have no time to read long messages anyway. Love you both.
What to write when you don't know what to write
Use this skeleton. It works for almost any baby shower card.
"Dear [name], I can't believe this is happening — I am so happy for you both. You are going to be an extraordinary [mum / dad / parents]. I cannot wait to meet [their/your] little one and watch this whole new chapter unfold. Sending you so much love. — [your name]"
Three lines, no clever phrasing. Sometimes that's the right card.
Card ideas that go past paper
A baby shower card is one of the few cards that the new parent will keep forever. Some ideas that make yours one of the kept ones:
- A photo card. Use a picture of you and the parents-to-be (or the parents-to-be and the bump). Pair it with a short message. See the baby cards collection for ready-made templates.
- A short video card. Record a 10-second voice or video message ("I cannot wait to meet your baby") and embed it. The parents will replay it.
- A "year one" promise card. Pick one specific thing you'll do for the baby's first year — "I'll babysit one Saturday a month" or "I'll cook for you the first month home." That promise, in writing, is the gift inside the gift.
- A group card. If you're at the shower with friends, get everyone to write one line, then turn the collection into a single digital card. Studio makes that easy.
Three things that always make a baby shower card better
- Use the baby's name if you know it. "Welcome, Mira" beats "welcome, baby."
- Mention the parents by name, not "you both." "Sara and Daniel" is warmer than "you guys."
- End forward. A promise, an offer of help, a "see you at the hospital." Not "good luck!" — that lands flat. "See you on the other side, sending love every day" lands soft.
Make yours
Browse the baby cards collection for templates already designed for new arrivals — or start blank in Studio and build the card from scratch. Add a photo of the parents, drop in your message, share the link.
A baby shower is the rare moment where everyone in the room is rooting for the same thing. Your card is a small voice in that chorus. Just make sure it sounds like you.
